Keynote speaker

Prof. Tullio Pozzan
Department of Biomedical Sciences, University of Padua, Italy
Tullio Pozzan is Professor Emeritus at the University of Padua and member of the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO), of the Accademia dei Lincei, the National Academy of Sciences of the United States and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada (FRSC). He was elected a Foreign Member of the Royal Society (ForMemRS) in 2018.
Historically, Prof Pozzan scientific interest has been focused on calcium (Ca2+) homeostasis in animal cells and its role in cell signalling, in both health and disease. In addition to Ca2+, the interest is also concentrated on cAMP signalling. In this context, novel tools have been generated and characterized and several signaling pathways linked to these second messengers have been detailed. All these methodologies are used to address with novel approaches the role of second messenger heterogeneity in different physio-pathological conditions not only in cell lines or primary cell cultures, but also in tissue preparations and in vivo.
